The Show
CLAUDETTE is a tribute to old age, to our grandmothers, to those wrinkles full of wisdom and experience. A tribute to an entire generation of women who, after having given everything for others, find themselves alone. CLAUDETTE also speaks of intergenerationality: of grumpy grandparents and grandchildren full of vitality, a source of energy in the lives of the elderly. CLAUDETTE tells us, comically and poetically, about those moments of play and complicity shared by grandparents and grandchildren. It’s a puppet and juggling show, inspired by Sara, the performer’s grandmother, who had dreamt of being an artist but, like many women her age, had to abandon her dreams to serve others.
Maleta Company is a contemporary circus company based in Ireland, focusing on juggling, manipulation, and the body as means of expression. Cie. Balancetoi is founded in Belgium, and their work is based on exploring the frontiers between circus and theatre, constantly seeking new forms of artistic creation.
